Heritage Volleyball Improves to 3-0 and Area Scores

Lynchburg - Heritage ran its record to 3-and-0 on the season, blanking Staunton River 3-0 in high school volleyball Tuesday night at Heritage.

Sophomore Brittany Cobbs had a big game for the Pioneers, delivering nine kills and three blocks. Senior Julia Hicks added six aces and 13 assists, senior Chyna Carter 20 digs as the Pioneers stayed unbeaten on the young season.

Sydney Angel led Staunton River's attack with six kills, Rachel Whittaker had eight assists, Taylor Creasy six digs.

Also in volleyball, E.C. Glass won at Bassett 3-2. Kate Ruehle had six aces for the Hilltoppers, who won their first game of the season and improved to 1-and-2. And Timberlake Christian blanked North Cross 3-0, Lizzie Shumaker had 13 aces and four kills, Darian Finnerty 15 kills, Taylor Tanzar 14 kills, Ashlyn Whitt 31 assists for the Tornadoes.

Boys soccer, V.E.S. edged Holy Cross 2-1. James Jenkins and Douglas Thom scored for V.E.S., Billy Heath for Holy Cross.
