Henry Co. Man Pleads Guilty in Church Arson

Henry Co., VA - A Henry County man plead guilty Tuesday to charges connected to a fire he started at a church.

According to a press release from U.S. Attorney Timothy Heaphy's office, Jean-Claude Bridges, 18, and a juvenile, set fire to the New Holy Deliverance Outreach Ministry in Axton back in May 20, 2012 because the congregation was primarily black.

Bridges was 17 at the time. Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to one count of destroying a religious property by fire - in a Danville Federal courtroom.

At sentencing, Bridges faces up to 20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $250,000.
