Appomattox, VA - Saturday's snow storm left a lot more snow in some areas than people were expecting. Some residents in Appomattox got up to 8 inches of snow.
Three-year-old Briahna Rousseau loves the snow, and it's been a while since she's gotten to play in it in her front yard.
"She just loves to run around and play and fall in the snow and throw it up," said Crystal Rousseau, her mom.
Crystal says they heard it would snow, but they were shocked to see how much actually fell.
"I found the ruler and I went out there and I stuck it in and when it went to 8, it stopped dead at the 8, and I was like, 'Oh my God...this is amazing.'"
Areas in Appomattox got 6 to 8 inches of snow Saturday. Hundreds of people sent in their snow pictures, most saying they were surprised they got so much of it.
ABC 13 Meteorologist Lyndsay Tapases says that's because the storm developed late.
"It's really hard to get a good handle on a forecast on a storm that's not even on the map yet in the hours and days leading up to it.
But besides that, the small storm wasn't anything out of the ordinary.
"It's actually pretty common to have bands of heavier snow set up within the storm itself," said Tapases.
That's why Lynchburg and other areas barely got a dusting, and Appomattox got it all.
"I hope it sticks around on the ground because I think it's so pretty, I love to watch it on the trees and watch it on the ground and everything. But I want the roads clear," said Crystal Rousseau.
The snow will probably melt Monday because it'll be sunny and in the 40s.
