Heavy Construction To Begin On New Downtown Roanoke Hotel
Roanoke, VA - Changes to Roanoke's skyline will become more apparent soon as heavy construction is set to begin on a new downtown hotel.
For the past six months crews have been working on the new Hampton Inn that will go on top of an existing six story garage.
Monday watch for detours on Church Avenue as the big cranes will be coming in to start moving steel up to the construction site."Beginning with the steel erection on Monday you will see a lot more progress easily visible from the street," said Roanoke's Economic Development Director, Wayne Bowers.The 127 room hotel is set to open in the spring and will join Hotel Roanoke as downtown's only two hotels.
