Danville, VA - The scorching temperatures have kicked a heat safety initiative into full gear.
Danville Emeritus just launched their Shade Brigade Campaign. They've been handing out insulated bags with water, juices, and popsicles to senior citizens in the Danville area.
They say staying hydrated while you're outside is the best way to combat heat exhaustion.
"Be very cognizant of the heat, but also, bring some water with you. Things like water, popsicles, juices, so that if you start feeling a little light headed, a little dizzy because that's the best way, is to limit your amount of time and to stay hydrated," said Gordon Martel the Community Relations Director for Danville Emeritus Assisted Living.
