Halifax County Woman Narrowly Avoids Getting Hit by Train

Halifax Co., VA -- A woman is lucky to be alive after state police say she accidentally drove on train tracks.

They say Barbara Vaughn was driving early Friday morning on Hodges Street in Nathalie when she mistook the train tracks for a highway. They say it was raining really hard at the time.
Vaughn did manage to get out of her car before the train came through. They say the car had about $6,000 in damage but it thankfully did not derail the train. No one was injured.
Vaughn was charged with failure to stop before crossing railroad tracks and blocking a railroad track.
