Halifax County/ South Boston Public Library Offering E-Books

South Boston, VA - A new e-collection system at the Halifax County/ South Boston Public Library will eliminate late fees.

It's part of the Southern Virginia Libraries United Electronically, or SOVALUe. It allows anyone with a library card to go online to the library's website and borrow e-books and audio books.
They can download them devices such as a Kindle, iPad or smart phone, for free. You can choose from more than 3,300 e-books and 200 audio books.
If you forget to return the book, it disappears from your device on the day it's due.
"Especially at this time of year when folks have just gotten their new electronic devices, this is one of the things you can do with it. Once folks get going on that, they get hooked on it because it saves you a trip and it saves you fines," said Chris Thompson, Branch Manager of Halifax County/ South Boston Public Library.
The Danville Public Library and Charlotte County Public Library also have the same program.
