Halifax Cancer Association Plans Luminary Service for Sunday

Halifax Co., VA - The Halifax County Cancer Association is holding a memorial luminary service for cancer patients on Sunday.

Anyone who has a loved one who is battling cancer or has lost their battle to cancer is invited to purchase a luminary bag.

The bags can be decorated and placed on the Halifax County Court House steps where the ceremony will be held.

Participants are asked to make a donation of $5 for a bag, which will go toward helping the association in their effort to provide support to cancer patients and caregivers.

"We're hoping for a really big crowd and for people to come out and support. It's just a time of remembrance and means so much to them," said Sharon Blosser, director of Patient Services for the Halifax County Cancer Association.

Honorees will also have their names featured in a local Halifax newspaper.

The service will take place at 5:15 p.m. Sunday. Luminary bags are available to be purchased at the Halifax County Cancer Association, Hite Insurance in Halifax and Timeless Traditions in South Boston.
