Habitat for Humanity Back in New River Valley
Blacksburg, VA - For the first time in five years, the New River Valley Chapter of Habitat For Humanity has started work on not one house, but two.
More than 200 volunteers a day got a good start on the houses over the weekend in Blacksburg.
The goal was to have the two homes roofed by Sunday, but that didn't quite happen. Organizers are still happy with the work and expect to have them done by the end of the week.
"We had folks from six different states that came in. we had folks from Houston, Texas and New York, New Jersey. We had a habitat homeowner from New Jersey and her four daughters came down to help build these houses," said Bob Pack who is the chairman for the New River chapter.
The "Blitz Build" was declared a great success that also could not have been done without help from Lynchburg-based, "Road Trip Crazies".
