Guilford Tops ODAC Women Preseason Basketball Poll

Salem - ODAC women's basketball coaches have chosen Guilford as the preseason favorite to win the league.

Guilford edged Eastern Mennonite for the top spot, then come Virginia Wesleyan, Bridgewater and Randolph-Macon.
Lynchburg heads the second five, followed by Hollins, Roanoke, Emory & Henry and Shenandoah. Former Brookville guard and now junior Emilee Dunton has transferred to Randolph, who also adds freshman Nikki Mathis out of Brookville. The WildCats are 11th with Washington & Lee 12th.
Allison Nichols, THIRD-YEAR RANDOLPH COACH, said "I think with Emilee it's a situation where she wanted to come back close to home and, you know, she wanted to play for kind of a local program and really have an opportunity to put a stamp on a program and hopefully start to take us in a new direction."
Abby Pyzik, 3RD-YEAR LYNCHBURG COACH, said "The speed of our play has increased, we've brought in a lot of height for our team as well, not only in the post position but in the guard position."
Susan Dunagan, 32ND-YEAR ROANOKE COACH, said "I know we've got some speed so we've got to use that, utilize that. And we definitely have to play some good defense. Right now we're not doing that, hoping that's going to be improving."
