Danville, VA -- Jobs on the Southside is a big issue in the race for governor in Virginia.

Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe stopped at EBI in Danville Wednesday for a tour. EBI is a furniture manufacturing facility that came over from Poland and has thrived here.

McAuliffe says he wants to learn the secrets of how it succeeded in this region, while others have failed. If elected governor, McAuliffe says he'll focus on job creation.

"I'm not one of these people, you know, they go on these listening tours. I had a pad and paper with me. I took notes. I listened to people. I've spent the last four years traveling to every nook and cranny of Virginia listening to folks, getting good ideas," McAuliffe said.

McAuliffe did not outline a specific plan for how he hopes to achieve economic prosperity, but referenced his extensive business experience and contacts.
