Gretna Woman Dies in Head-On Crash in Pittsylvania County
Pittsylvania Co., VA- State Police say a Gretna woman died and a man was sent to the hospital because of a head-on crash Saturday afternoon.
We're told around 2:40 p.m., 52-year-old David Wayne Shelton was driving west on Route 40 when he crossed the center line and crashed into a pick-up truck. Shelton was taken Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the pick-up, 81-year-old Doris Fischer Rowland, was taken to Danville Regional Medical center where she was later pronounced dead.
Both Rowland and Shelton were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. No charges have been made yet and the accident is still under investigation.
