Lynchburg, VA - The wet weather didn't keep people away from the Lynchburg Beer and Wine Festival Saturday. This is the 4th year the event takes place at Riverfront Park.
Organizers were worried about the turnout due to the forecast, but that wasn't the case.
Despite the rainy weather, people were lined up almost an hour before the gates opened at 11 a.m.
Inside, the festival featured 18 wineries and 24 breweries--the most in the events history.
Organizers say 3,000 people bought tickets in advance, so cancelling the event was not an option.
"If it starts raining, people are going to enjoy themselves whether it's rain or shine. The ones who are out here, are here for the longhaul," said Kim Jennings, the festival producer.
They did get some small showers throughout the day, but organizers say it wasn't enough to keep people away.
The festival goes on until 7 p.m.
