Grants Approved for New SROs in Virginia
Richmond, VA - Dozens of schools inVirginia will finally have their own school resource officers, GovernorMcDonnell announced Monday.
McDonnell's office says grants to fundthe new positions were just approved by the Criminal Justice Services Board.
The new SROs will be hired in 24localities, including Martinsville, Buena Vista, Pulaski County, PittsylvaniaCounty and Rockbridge County.
Governor McDonnell requested the funding for thesepositions following the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School inDecember 2012.
