Update 3 p.m.:
Campbell Co., VA - According to investigators, Robert Philbrook, 27, killed John and Virginia Philbrook, the grandparents who raised him and opened their home again to him in November.
"Obviously something went wrong," said Major LT Guthrie with the Campbell County Sheriff's Office.
But exactly what went wrong with the family relationships inside the walls of 186 Sleepy Hollow Road is still unclear.
At a news conference Wednesday morning, the sheriff's office did not share any potential motive for the Philbrook murders. Investigators have been in the neighborhood since the bodies were discovered Friday talking to neighbors.
Major LT Guthrie says investigators were able to determine no one had seen or heard from the couple since last Tuesday - the same day they say the grandson, now the suspect, took off to North Carolina.
"That helped tremendously in determining when this happened. It helped us in being able to track the suspect more," said Guthrie.
Don Meade was one of the neighbors who talked with investigators. Meade was a close friend of the Philbrooks, and one of the last people to have talked to the couple the day they are believed to have died.
"I never knew them to have enemies. I'll put it that way. You know every family has problems, but I never thought anything such as this," he said.
Investigators say John Philbrook's body was found in the living room of the home, and Virginia Philbrook was found dead in the kitchen. Officials say there were no signs of any sort of confrontation or struggle.
Campbell Co., VA - Robert Philbrook, the 27-year-old grandson of double homicide victims John and Virginia Philbrook, has been charged with two counts of second degree murder.
Online jail records show Robert Philbrook was arrested Tuesday afternoon. He's charged with two counts of second degree murder, two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and with one count of possessing or transporting a firearm by a convicted felon.
Officials with the Campbell County Sheriff's Office say they discovered the bodies of John and Virginia Philbrook on February 15. They say John was in the living room area and Virginia was in the bedroom. Both had gunshot wounds.
Their investigation revealed that their grandson Robert Philbrook had moved back into the home in November 2012 but he was in Charlotte, NC between Feb. 12 and Feb. 15.
Robert Philbrook is being held at the Campbell County Adult Detention Center.
The Sheriff's Office is holding a news conference at 11 a.m. regarding the case.
