Governor Announces Safety Review Following Conn. Shooting
Richmond, VA - While the nation continues to mourn the deadly shootings in Connecticut, Governor Bob McDonnell announced a state plan to review school safety in Virginia.
The plan would affect all levels of public education, from local school divisions to colleges and universities.
The review would identify any needs that haven't yet been met to keep everyone safe, while educators and students are in the classroom.
The governor also announced the establishment of a task force to review school safety.
The task force would look at current policies and procedures, crisis and emergency management plans, and threat assessment protocols, as well as any safety challenges.
