Goodwill to Build New Distribution Center in Madison Heights

Madison Heights, VA - Goodwill is building a distribution center at the old Kroger store in Madison Heights.

It will serve as the headquarters for the Lynchburg, Bedford and Amherst Goodwill stores.

It will also house office space for its youth services program, job training and serve as a donation site.

Goodwill leaders say the need for their services is growing.

"When I had started to work for Goodwill almost eight years ago, we had served something like 1800 or 1900 people. Last year we served almost 74,000," said Jim Shaver, VP of marketing.

The facility will officially open on March 27. Goodwill says between the new store on Timberlake and another about to open on Old Forest, they're adding 30 to 40 jobs in our area.
