      Goodlatte Nominates 7 Area Students to U.S. Military Academies

      WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Bob Goodlatte has nominated seven Lynchburg area students to the nation's military academies. The students would enter in the fall of 2013 and be members of the graduating Class of 2017.

      "It is my honor to nominate these young individuals to compete for an appointment to the United States Service Academies. The Academies provide students the opportunity to receive a top-notch educational experience and join the world's finest fighting force. Upon appointment, I am confident they will serve our country with distinction. Folks in Lynchburg and Bedford County can be proud of these hard working nominees. I wish them the best and thank them for their willingness to serve this great nation," said Goodlatte.

      The nominees are listed below:

      Jonathan Drablos, son of David and Gaynor Drablos, is a graduate of Liberty Christian Academy and a resident of Forest. He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

      Ben Jackson, son of Darin and Amanda Jackson, is a graduate of Jefferson Forest High School and a resident of Forest. He has been nominated to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

      Will Johnston, son of Lewis and Deborah Johnston, is a current senior at E.C. Glass High School and a resident of Lynchburg. He has been nominated to the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

      Blake Papet, son of Louis and Sharyn Papet, is a current senior at Liberty Christian Academy and a resident of Forest. He has been nominated to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

      Josh Stanton, son of Ray and Karen Stanton, is a current senior at Timberlake Christian Schools and a resident of Forest. He has been nominated to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

      Nik Weinmeister, son of Frank and Teresa Weinmeister, is a current senior at Jefferson Forest High School and a resident of Lynchburg. He has been nominated to the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

      Anna Yoon, daughter of Young and Hye Jia Yoon, is a current senior at Heritage High School and a resident of Lynchburg. She has been nominated to the United States Military Academy at West Point.
