Concord, VA - It has been three days since Typhoon Haiyan swept through the Philippines. Now, there is a desperate plea for help. Gleaning for the World is collecting supplies and money. They say the need is urgent.
"We've gotten some communications saying that they are out of water now and they have 24 to 48 hours left of food. We've got to get, we've got to get supplies in immediately," said Andrew Young, GFTW.
Right now, Gleaning tells us more than 10,000 people have lost their lives. Hundreds of thousands are now refugees.
There will be collections points: November 12 and November 14.
Sams Club on Wards Road in Lynchburg: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Walmart off Route 460 in Bedford: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In Roanoke, you can drop off supplies at Word of Truth Ministries.
They say they need rice, hand sanitizer, over the counter medications, powdered milk, flashlights, batteries, baby supplies, personal hygiene products, towels, washcloths, and canned meat, among other things. Collections will go through Thursday.
