Concord, VA - The Holiday season is upon us, and Saturday, Gleaning for the World kicked off their first ever holiday shopping event in Concord.
Lots of vendors set up and sold their goods.
People were encouraged to get some early Christmas shopping done.
Proceeds from Saturday will go to the new women's ministry called Wings.
"After doing extensive research on some of the issues facing women throughout the world, internationally and also locally believe it or not people in Appalachia, homeless women, suffer this same thing- and that's management of their monthly cycle and this is such a taboo subject in a lot of countries they can't even talk about it never mind find ways of managing it," said Nancy Engler, Gleaning for the World.
Gleaning for the World will package feminine hygiene kits and ship them to various locations. They say this is a need many people are not aware of.
