Lynchburg, VA - Thousands of Colorado residents have been displaced from their homes because of massive flooding, creating a need for the most basic items.
Gleaning for the World is holding a collection Tuesday and Wednesday at Sams Club on Wards Road in Lynchburg. They're hoping to collect enough items to send a load to Colorado later this week.
Gleaning's Communications Director says there is an urgent need.
"Boulder, Colorado, which is about the size of Lynchburg, right now does not have any clean and usable water. And that's 90,000 thousand people that need help, that we can get it to right now," Communications Director Andrew Young said.
Gleaning is asking for donations like bottled water, non-perishable food, and personal care items.
The donations will be accepted at Sam's Club until 6 p.m. Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
