Washington, D.C. - The Liberty Flames dropped to 0-and-3 on the young season, falling at Georgetown 68-59.
Casey Roberts led the Flames scoring with 13. The Flames jumped to an early 4-0 lead before the Hoyas ripped off 17 points Mina row. Liberty got back to within five before Georgetown finished the half strong and took a 41-25 margin into the break.
The Hoyas ran the lead to as many as 23 the second half and were never seriously challenged. Liberty did score a lot of points late to make the final score a nine-point game.
Georgetown got a career-high 18 points plus nine rebounds from Greg Whittington. The Hoyas' top player, Otto Porter, Jr., sat out because of concussion symptoms.
Davon Marshall and Tavares Speaks added 12 points each for the Flames, who got 13 rebounds from JR Coronado.
