Lynchburg, VA - Former Senator George Allen was in the Hill City Friday morning. It was one of many stops as he campaigns to get the Republican nomination on Tuesday.

Allen spoke to the breakfast crowd at Bob Evans restaurant as part of his "Send a Message" campaign. That message is that Virginians want control of their own destiny. He says we as a country need to bring more investment and jobs here, and we ought to better use our energy resources.

"I am going to introduce a bill to allow us in Virginia to produce oil and natural gas off our coast and use those royalties for roads and transportation," he said.

The Republican primary is Tuesday. It's expected that Allen would face off against former governor Tim Kaine.

Kaine is meeting with women in northern Virginia Friday.
