Richmond, VA - Governor McDonnell's transportation plan will likely bring gas prices down across the area.
The plan goes into effect July 1.
AAA says you can expect prices at the pump to drop by six cents because the gas tax here in Virginia will be replaced with a lower tax at the wholesale level.
Rather than paying roughly 17 cents per gallon, the price will drop to 11 cents a gallon.
The drop won't happen all at once, however, it is expected to go down steadily.
Virginia is currently the seventh most affordable state to buy gas.
