Simpson Funeral Museum had its grand opening Thursday night on South Main Street. Owner, Bill Simpson, runs a handmade casket company and has been collecting funeral themed antiques for years.
Inside the museum you'll find caskets identical to those used for celebrities and U.S. Presidents. There are also photos on the walls honoring Pittsylvania County's well known funeral directors.
"The main thing we want them to see is that from the days of the Egyptian Pharaohs to today, we have honored and respected our fellow man, especially in death," said Simpson.
A fun fact for you, the museum sits in a space which used to be funeral home over 100 years ago.
The museum will open on Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until noon.
