Lynchburg, VA - The identity of the man killed in Friday's plane crash in Altavista has been released. Bob Di Giulio, 50, of Lynchburg died. He was headed from Winchester to Lynchburg. Officials believe he died on impact.

Former colleagues say he was a doctor who worked for Medical Associates of Central Virginia for four years and practiced at Lynchburg General Hospital. Most recently, he was working in Richmond. Friends describe him as a stand up guy who was passionate about flying.

"He was a good guy to have around. We played poker together. He was a fella you could always count on and I just remember Bob as a guy who had a wonderful heart," Jim Pittard said.

"We're all stunned. My family and his family are very close. We've been in touch with his wife and you know obviously they're struggling with this tragedy. Completely unexpected and everybody's just trying to make it," Murat Gezen said.

Friends say Di Giulio leaves behind a wife and two children.
