Four Dogs Killed in Lynchburg House Fire
Lynchburg, VA - Four dogs were killed in a fire in Lynchburg Friday.
Crews were called to the house in the 700 block of Hancock Street shortly before 1:00 p.m. Friday. Flames were coming out of a first floor window when they got there. Everyone was able to make it out safely, but there were eight dogs in the house and fire officials say only four were able to be rescued.
The house is a total loss.
"We have the fire department restoration officer working with the Red Cross and the four occupants of the house to find them somewhere to stay, provide them with some personal effects and to make sure their needs are taken care of in the next few days," said Battalion Chief Jason Campbell.
Fire officials say an electrical short in the living room caused the blaze.
