Former Franklin Co. Deputy Accused of Shooting Ex-Wife Expected to Enter Guilty Plea
Roanoke, VA - Former Franklin County Deputy, Jonathan Agee, is expected to enter a guilty plea Friday afternoon in a Roanoke courtroom - that according to the Commonwealth's Attorney's office.
Agee faces five felonies there, including a charge of first degree murder, for a shooting rampage that left his ex-wife dead.
Agee was set to go to trial at the end of the month - a scheduled nine day trial.
Ms. Agee was killed in front of her daughter as the two sat in their car at the Sheetz at the intersection of Williamson Road and Orange Avenue Memorial Day of 2011.
Agee is still scheduled for a March trial in Montgomery County after an ensuing shootout on I-81 left Agee and a Virginia State Trooper wounded.
The murder charge alone carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.
It is unclear what, if any deal was cut with Agee to avoid trial.
The plea hearing is set to begin at 12:15.
