Nelson Co., VA - A former Rockfish Community Center Manager was sentenced on three felony counts of forging a check and one count of felony embezzlement Thursday in a Nelson County Circuit Court.
The judge sentenced Arron Messer to 20 years in prison, but suspended 19 of those years. After serving that year, Messer will be on probation for 20 years.
Messer pleaded guilty to the charges last October.
He has also been barred from the Rockfish Community Center property.
Last year, Nelson County investigators say Messer admitted to them he had made the checks from the Community Center out to himself, forged the Community Center treasurer's name on them, and cashed them at Wells Fargo.
