Forest Hills Elementary Gets Award & Visit From Congressman Hurt

Danville, VA - A Danville school got some special recognition Thursday and a visit from a local congressman.

Forest Hills Elementary is one of seven schools in Virginia to receive the National Blue Ribbon Award this year.

The program honors exceptional and high performing schools.

Congressman Robert Hurt visited the school to help celebrate and to present them with an American Flag that was flown over the Capitol.

We also asked Hurt about the Virginia governor's race and if he thinks most voters side with the Obama Administration.

"It's hard to say. I take a more simple view of it. I think it has everything to do with candidates, quality of candidates, and who was able to appeal to the most people. That's what wins elections. Clearly this was an unusual race," said Hurt.

Hurt also commented on the issues surrounding the Obamacare website.

"This thing is a fiasco and it's really hurting people. It's a symptom of a much deeper problem, and that is that to have the government take over 1/6 of the economy in many respects is more than the government can handle."
