Forest Family on Stranded Carnival Dream
Forest, VA - A Forest family was among 4,300 passengers on board a Carnival cruise ship that stalled out near St. Maarten.
Michael Cheatwood was cruising on the Carnival Dream with his wife and two children. The family arrived home Sunday. Cheatwood says the ship's problems have been a bit exaggerated.
Cheatwood says the toilets were only shut off for about 45 minutes, while a backup generator was repaired. He claims the brief power outage happened overnight, when most passengers were asleep.
Cheatwood says Carnival provided transportation to the downtown area and they could come and go on the island as they pleased. He says if their children didn't have to go back to school, they would have stayed in St. Maarten longer. The family plans to cruise again.
