Forest, VA - Hundreds of people got free dental work done Saturday in Forest as part of the national Dentistry From The Heart program.
This is the 6th year Forest Dental Center partners with the organization to provide free services to those in need.
The first 250 people that signed up got either a cleaning, extraction or filling.
Organizers say it's a way they can give back the community and help those who can't afford these services.
"It's a privilege to take care of the people that can't take care of themselves. And it's really an opportunity to make a difference that we can't otherwise do," said (09) Dr. Daniel Yeager with the Forest Dental Center.
The event is first come, first served, and organizers say people started lining up Friday night!
Thomas W. Carter was out there waiting in line at 5 a.m. on Saturday. He says being able to get free services was definitely worth it.
"These people do an excellent job. They give their heart and soul...out of their own pockets to help people. And I really appreciate that," said Carter.
Event organizers say they had local dentists, surgeons and community members volunteer their time.
Forest Dental Service will hold the event again next year. They'll provide information on their website.
