Football Stars Help in Fundraiser for Forest Cancer Patient

Forest, VA - Some big football stars joined the Forest community in support of a woman who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

The event was at Jefferson Forest High School Saturday.

Ellen Coleman was diagnosed with an evasive form of breast cancer. A group of co-workers made the decision to hold a fundraiser to help her pay for medical bills.

Logan Thomas and Zack McCray signed autographs and took pictures with fans. They also had raffles and a silent auction.

Coleman's friends say they knew they had to do something to help the mother of three.

"Living paycheck to paycheck and having extra medical bills come's just too much for one person. So we love her enough and we were like, 'We're going to do something big and go all out,'" said April Fifer, who helped organize the fundraiser.

Football players Jake Grove and Brandon Sparrow were also at the event signing autographs.

Organizers say they raised a little more than $10,000 at Saturday's event.
