Summary: Coach Chuck Poston has steadily built up his program but the Golden Eagles took a step back in 2012. They went 4-6, losing four games in a row at one point and missed the playoffs after making postseason appearances in 2009, 2010, and 2011. Keep in mind; in 2008 Staunton River was 0-10. As a result of personnel, Poston and his coaching staff have decided to changes their offense. They'll use a Single Wing style similar to Giles H.S. Poston says the new look will allow them to get the ball into the hands of players that can create big plays. Another reason for the switch is because they have a very young offensive line. Only one of the starting five linemen has varsity experience. Despite that fact they want to have a winning season and get back to the playoffs. That will be a challenge competing in the Blue Ridge District.
