Summary: The Raiders are anxious to improve in year two under Head Coach Doug Smith. Smith said last year was kind of like your first date with someone, you're getting to know each other, sometimes it's uncomfortable with some miscommunication. Smith says hopefully the Raiders have gotten that out of their system now. The main priority this season is to be more consistent and take better care of the ball. Turnovers killed the Raiders they lost five games by less than seven points, giving up the ball two, three, four times a game.

Appomattox will be mainly a running team, but they do have guys who can throw it and catch it when the situation calls for it. The Raiders play a tough schedule this year that includes Buckingham County, Jefferson Forest, Altavista and Gretna to name just a few.
