Food Flying Off Store Shelves in Lynchburg

Lynchburg, VA - In preparation for Sandy, food was flying off grocery store shelves. At F&L Market in Lynchburg, crews were restocking the shelves Tuesday.

The market was sold out of water, batteries, flashlights and 6 p.m. Monday. They say getting that shipment in Tuesday was critical.

"We had two tractor trailers come in this morning and started about 5:30 a.m. unloading trucks and we have a full crew unloading right now. We got two solid truck loads in and it was about $57,000 worth of everything from meat, produce, water, flashlights, batteries, you name it," said Todd Ramsey, the general manager.

The manager at Target in Lynchburg has a similar story. She says things like bread and water, along with camping stoves, propane, batteries and flashlights were all anyone wanted. They too have another shipment on its way to replenish what was sold out.
