"Flame Train" Works Out for NCAA Baseball Opener

Columbia, South Carolina - The Big South Tournament champion Liberty Flames open play in the Columbia Regional Friday afternoon at 1. The Flames are the three seed in the four team regional and take on number 2 Clemson Friday in the 1 o'clock opener, the 1 seed South Carolina battles number 4 St. Louis in game two at 7.

LU coach Jim Toman was asked about South Carolina's 24-game home postseason win streak.

Jim Toman, LIBERTY FLAMES HEAD COACH, said "Eventually that streak, somebody's gonna break it. And you know the Flame Train is down here, we might as well try to do it. We've got to get by Clemson first which will be a small miracle but we're just happy to be down here and hopefully we can compete a little bit with them guys."
Trey Wimmer, FLAMES SENIOR CATCHER, said "Yea I did grow up a Clemson fan on that side of the rivalry. My brother's a student there, but this weekend he says he's a Liberty fan, I'm a Liberty fan, so I'd like to hand him a loss obviously. And the fan, the fandom kind of stops when you get on the field."
