Roanoke, VA - There's a new addition to Virginia Western Community College in November to recognize Veterans Day.
"Flags for the Fallen" is on display outside of the college's Community Arboretum and includes more than 6,000 flags.
Each one represents a service member killed since September 11, 2001.
Organizers are hoping to get $1 per flag as a donation
All money raised will go to a fund that helps support Sergeant TJ Conrad's son, Bentley. Conrad, who was from Roanoke County, was killed earlier this year in Afghanistan.
"It was very humbling. Each of those flags represents a soldier that has been killed since 9/11, and is very humbling experience to do that for them and remember them and the sacrifices that they made for us," said Kelsey Peters, VWCC student & Army veteran.
