South Boston, VA - After 50 years of risking his life for others, a South Boston firefighter has been honored for his service.
Last week marked James Young's 50 year anniversary with the South Boston Fire Department.
The fire chief says the department honored him in a small ceremony with a plaque and a pin.
Now in his seventies, Young is an associate member - meaning he doesn't have to attend as many calls and meetings as an active member.
But the chief says he is still very dedicated to the community.
