Fire Destroys Mobile Home in Pittsylvania County

Pittsylvania Co., VA - A family in Pittsylvania County is homeless after their mobile home caught fire Thursday night.

Firefighters from the Kentuck and Tunstall departments were called out to the mobile home at the intersection of Slayton Road and Kentuck Road. Four people were there when the fire broke out, including an infant. Everyone got out safely, but the home is a total loss.
According to the Kentuck Fire Department, it took over an hour to put the fire out. They say the rain helped them make progress.
A man who was in the house says the fire started because of a cigarette that was stuck in the couch. The Fire Marshal is still investigating the official cause of the fire.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
