Fire Destroys Abandoned Home in Danville

Danville, VA - Danville fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed an abandoned home overnight.

Crews responded to the scene on Oakland Avenue just after midnight Friday and found heavy fire showing from most of the house.

They controlled the flames and found that no one lived there. The Fire Department dispatched three engines, one ladder, and two support vehicles. Officials say 15 firefighters were on the scene for two hours.

Neighbors say the home has sat empty for several years.

The home is a total loss.

The DFD Fire Marshal's Office is continuing the investigation into the cause of the fire.
