Fire Burning at Pittsylvania County Junkyard

Pittsylvania County, VA - Dozens of firefighters are on the scene of a fire in Pittsylvania County. Firefighters were called around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday about a fire at a junkyard on Martin Drive.

Crews say about 30 acres have burned so far. Investigators say the fire is contained.

Firefighters say last night the owner of the junkyard was using a blow torch to cut metal last night. They say he left the blow torch on which sparked the fire.

The U.S. Forestry Service is also on the scene to help with the fire.
