Lexington, VA - A movie based on the VMI cadet charge during the Battle of New Market is set to open nationwide.
Field of Lost Shoes, which portrays the stories of seven cadets that fought in the battle, will open September 26th.
The movie, much of which was shot on location, tells the story of the cadets as the country is divided by war.
A story that ends with the deaths of 10 of the schools cadets once the fighting stopped.
"It's a very effective, powerful portraying of a story that is important really to us here in Virginia and certainly to VMI," said VMI Museum director, Col. Keith Gibson who also served as a lead consultant for the production.
The movie will open in 30 cities including in Richmond, Charlottesville, Roanoke and Lexington.
