Lynchburg, VA - They're decking the halls for a good cause in Lynchburg. Friday, November 9 kicks off the Festival of Trees and organizers were busy getting all of the trees in place.
Proceeds benefit three really worthy causes in our area -- The Forest Rotary Club, The United Way of Central Virginia and the Centra Cancer Patient Support Fund.
What's really neat is that the event takes place at the Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center, so it's a fundraiser, but Marie Martin with the United Way of Central Virginia said it also helps lift the spirits of patients and their families.
"The patients not only enjoyed seeing the trees but they enjoyed watching us put the trees together and to watch people bring them in and the excitement with it and it kind of took them away from what they were here for," Martin said.
