Federal Judge Siding with Prosecutors in McDonnell Case

Richmond, VA - A federal judge is mostly siding with prosecutors on several pre-trial motions ahead of the trial for former Governor McDonnell and his wife.

Judge James R. Spencer ruled against motions made by McDonnell's lawyers to exclude some evidence from trial which includes the financial disclosure McDonnell had filed when in office and statements his wife made to the FBI.

Spencer also ruled against the prosecution's request to limit the number of character witnesses the defense could call to three each - but he did say he likely wouldn't allow more than five to testify at trial.
