Father of Man Killed in Henry County Homicide Speaks Out
Henry Co, VA-- A Henry County man is charged with first degree murder in connection to Friday's shooting.
According to the Henry County Sheriff's office, 34-year-old Marcus Ryan Barnes was arrested and charged, after officials said he shot 28-year-old William Bradley Doss.
The Sheriff's office said the victim and the suspect knew one another, and the shooting happened after some sort of altercation.
They said Barnes shot Doss once in the chest. A witness called 911 around 7:15 Friday night. Doss was taken to the Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County where he was pronounced dead.
The victim's family says they were inside their home, only feet away, when all of this happened.
"I was there when it all happened, like I said when he got shot, I was holding him in my arms when he died," said William Doss, the victim's father. "He was loved by everybody, he didn't deserve what happened to him."
The Sheriff's office found Barnes a few hours later only two miles away from the crime scene. He was also charged with the use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He is being held in the Henry County Jail without bond.
