Halifax Co., VA -Search crews are spreading across rural property looking for any sign that may lead them to James Brown, Jr.
Brown's brother, John, says he knew something was wrong when he never came to pick up his retirement check from a relative."We just celebrated Thanksgiving. We saw him, we were all together. We just have to get through this and we need to find him now, " said John Brown.
Their mother lives on Brown Trail where many members of the large, close-knit family live. They say she was hit hard by the news.
"It's starting to takes its toll on her, and she's starting to worry more and more, " John Brown said.
Right now, police aren't calling Brown's disappearance suspicious.
"We have no indication of foul play, " said Major Tommy Spencer with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.
Family members say they believe someone out there has information.
"Somebody does know something, and I'm asking - not for my sake, but for my mother's sake and my brother's sake, come forward and tell what they know, " pleaded John Brown.
Cousin Harold Brown is Hattie Brown's brother. He says he never thought his family would be going through this again.
"Hattie was missing. Here goes my cousin, he's missing, and we just can't pinpoint nothing, " Harold Brown said.
There are no new leads right now in Hattie's disappearance, but the family is now hoping for a Christmas miracle: the safe return of both missing Browns.
"That would be a blessing, but I really don't know what's going to take place, " Harold Brown said.
James Brown, Jr. is six feet tall and about 160 pounds. He has a large mole on his right cheek, and he was last seen wearing blue jeans, a brown leather jacket and tan boots.
