Family Marks Third Year of Hattie Brown's Disappearance

South Boston, VA - Three years ago Wednesday, Halifax County woman Hattie Brown went missing.

Last seen at the Sheetz in South Boston, Brown's body was never found. While the formal investigation into her death has come to a close, her family says they'll never give up hope. As recent as a month ago, the family erected a billboard in South Boston asking for information on her disappearance.

On this anniversary, they say they keep Brown's memory alive, remembering all the joy she brought them.

"We think about the good things. The good things she'd done. She spent 18 years in the service; she served her country and did quite a few good things. So we just kind of try and stay on a lot of the good things that she'd done," said Hattie Brown's sister Diane Brown.

One of the case's largest leads was the discovery of Brown's car in a nearby lake back in 2009. Brown would have been 51 years old.
