Family Grants Easement to Protect Land Near Vinton

VINTON, Va. (AP) - More than 300 acresof woods and fields near Vinton will be protected from development.

It is reported that Al Hammond and his family have granted conservationeasements to the Blue Ridge Land Conservancy and the Virginia OutdoorsFoundation to protect 330 acres on Glenburn farm.

Conservancy executive director David Perry says the easements also willpreserve views from the Blue Ridge Parkway and help protect the endangeredRoanoke log perch.
