Lynchburg, VA - Liberty University Chancellor Jerry Falwell says he wants to see Ivy Lake remain a vibrant spot where people come together to relax and play, but he also has an obligation to his students.
The response stems from demands by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation that the school revamp the lake's dam.
The work comes with a $3 million dollar price tag.
Falwell says it would be irresponsible to spend his students' tuition on work that the school believes is unnecessary. He says if they have to drain the lake, they'll do it, but the decision will come from the state and not the school.
